The day Encarta died

This week in tech, Encarta – Microsoft’s attempted at a CD-ROM based encylopedia – became extinct.

I used Compton’s Encyclopedia for the longest time.  It’s amazing that in the span of two years (1993 to 1995), all of the millions of dollars invested into this market by software companies went to waste.

In other news, a complete overhaul of NMD Live! is now taking place.  I have the main pages up, but there are still graphics and other niceties that still need to be worked on.  Those revisions should be finished by the end of this week.

Also, I should have the most recent episodes of The Tech Geek and The 2.0 Show up this evening on the site and for download.  There was more editing then normal that needed to be done.  I really need to get someone to help me with editing for all my shows so I can get these out in a more timely fashion.

New netcast coming tomorrow: The Tech Geek

I’m so excited for tomorrow.  I’m starting a new netcast at 11am EST called The Tech Geek.  It’s a show about all things tech (obviously), but it’s meant to be a conversation not as a tech support-type show.

We’ll take calls and talk about the latest in tech news and answer your questions about all things tech.  From time to time, we’ll even have special guest on the show talking about a variety of topics.

If you’re interested in listening in, watch the netcast on NMD Live! at live.newmediaindy.com from 11am to 1pm EST.  You will find information there on how to call into the show, but I’ll be interacting with the audience via the TalkShoe and Stickam chat rooms too.

Hope to see you there!

Brighthouse replies & I need a show notes taker

I was in shock yesterday when I received a blog comment and Twitter message from @BHNInsider.  They seemed rather eager to solve the problem with my cable box.

After a couple of DM’s back and forth, he told me he would forward my account information to “Customer Care Management” and told me to expect a call to resolve the problem quickly.

I will wait to hear from someone and post my updates here.  I hope someone contacts me soon.

On another note, I am looking for someone to take show notes on a new netcast of mine, The Tech Geek.  They will be posted on our newly coming website.  Requisites are being able to research the Internet for appropriate links in show notes and have an attentiveness to detail.  I’ll crosspost this on Twitter so it can be retweeted.  If you’re interested, please leave a comment here or tweet me @techyuppie.

Look forward to hearing from those interested.
